Abandon Ship launch party with RuPaul’s Drag Race Royalty

The launch party at Abandon Ship – the brand-new restaurant and bar in Glasgow which has added an element of pizazz and fun with hidden corners filled with Instagram perfect moments – was an absolute success. Fun backdrops, aesthetically fantastic pieces and a sensory explosion mean this is the newest hotspot for people looking for a good time. This venue has had the seal of approval with Twin Atlantic Frontman and RuPaul’s Drag Race Royalty Mayhem Miller already in attendance. Although the launch is over, the party will continue.

Abandon Ship Bar gained a coup for their opening with an amazing array of talent to promote and open their doors. The Twin Atlantic frontman, Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae played an incredible DJ set for guests which included variety of big star hits. Mayhem Miller and Detox from RuPaul’s Drag Race stayed at YOTEL Glasgow and posted on their Instagram stories their fantastic experience and uniquely wonderful cocktails.

The bar itself is stunning. Abandon Ship has brought their trademark urban style to their new 3500 square feet Glasgow location. Walking into the bar is a sensory experience with eclectic neon signage and beautiful lighting features everywhere. A stand-out design feature of the place is the resin-top sticker bar. The idea behind the unique design? It is a homage to the Abandon Ship Apparel with their designs from the last decade highlighted.

This wonderful bar was created by Scottish female designers Astrid Carleton and Amanda Davies. They constructed a colourful, laidback space to get people to talk and enjoy their surroundings on pastel pink and aqua leather-backed booths. The bar, restaurant and retail concept is adorned with wall-to-wall street art by creative director, Richard Davies.

Instagram moments to check out while you enjoy their range of delicious cocktails include an 80’s Tron-inspired arcade entrance and an Abandon Ship photobooth. There is also a designated, quaint Pickle Shack to enjoy craft beers, shots and even browse around the exclusive Abandon Ship Apparel merchandise. Below are a few pictures of the space in general so you can soak in their uniquely fantastic aesthetic.

This unbelievable spot is set across two floors so there is lots of space for everybody to enjoy their own nook. For those who want a light bite or a good meal, their 80-cover restaurant can sit your party so you can relish an Americana soul-food menu which is big on flavour across all their dishes. Their nachos and burgers are a classic nod while their spicy chicken wings look like they will knock your socks off. Their cocktails are unbelievably good too - the 'Zombie' has three types of rum with cinnamon syrup while the 'Hawaiian on Acid' is a unique mix of Jagermeister, coconut rum and raspberry liqueur. This hot spot blends good drinks, good vibes and good aesthetics into one location so you can start your night right.

Creative director Richard Davies said: “There is nothing quite like Abandon Ship Bar anywhere. If you love good times, great drinks and cool vibes come and join us as we launch in Glasgow. We’re always looking to innovate with the brand and our new concept is something that all of our team are really proud to be part of. We’ve put blood, sweat and tears into our opening and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve created.“
