Amber Mark releases newest single ‘Competition’ from upcoming album
Amber Mark is a New York based artist with a soulful voice and an undeniable talent for blending and mixing music genres into incredible tracks. The styles across her multiple EP’s and singles include hip-hop, R&B, soul and bossa nova. With that in mind, Amber Mark releases a second sneak peak of her upcoming debut album and the excitement is tangible.
The first single was ‘Worth It’, and this second is titled ‘Competition’; both videos were co-directed by Cara Stricker and Amber Mark herself with the idea that the anthology of the videos from the album will form a short film, and both videos are stunning in their cinematography. The latest video is a thematic progression since she first sang about her sense of self-worth and now she celebrates her strength. She points out with ‘Competition’ that although we can be ruthless with our competitive natures towards others and ourselves, we are stronger together and we should recognise that. The choreography in her ‘Competition’ video progresses into something sublime and ethereal with a richness in the connection between visual and sound.
Amber Mark continued over lockdown to create music and at home videos with her ‘Covered-19’ series; a combination of original songs such as ‘1894’ and covers like ‘The Thong Song’. Her collaborations with Empress Of and DJ Paul Woolford have earned spots of Radio 1 and 2’s playlists, and Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record of the Week’.
For British fans wishing to see the artist live, this is possible! She is performing at Lafayette theatre in London this upcoming 24th of August. Based in Pancras square, Amber Mark is not to be missed with her beautiful, soulful voice and tracks. Tickets can be purchased here.
Her debut EP 3:33AM was released in 2017 and she has since amassed over 300 million streams. More information on her debut album will be released soon.
