Summerhall announce new Gallery Bar

Following hot on the heels of the successful re-opening of the Royal Dick Courtyard Bar - which has been booked solid since it re-opened in April - Summerhall are set to open their brand new Gallery Bar later this month. Occupying the former café space at Summerhall, the Gallery Bar will feature a seasonal menu of light dishes alongside Summerhall’s favourite tipples, including Barney’s Beer and Pickering’s Gin.

Following an extensive refurbishment, the layout of the Gallery Bar has been designed with social distancing in mind to create a COVID secure environment. The large windows looking out onto the Meadows remain, flooding the space with sunlight on long summer evenings. Additionally, beer taps have been installed and artwork from past Summerhall exhibitions are showcased on the walls.

The bar will be open daily from 10.00am-8.00pm, with food available for both sit-in and takeaway. Summerhall is ensuring that the space is as safe as possible for customers and staff by following all Scottish government guidelines. In addition, Summerhall’s resident cleaning company Daybreak continue to regularly deep clean the entire site, using hospital-grade testing to declare Summerhall COVID-19 Hygiene Certified.

For opening night on Thursday 20th May, the Gallery Bar launch will be supported by a special offer from Summerhall’s in-house small batch distillery Pickering’s Gin. For the first 100 guests, Pickering’s will provide a complimentary G&T to accompany your meal at the new Gallery Bar.

Rowan Campbell, Summerhall’s General Manager said: “We are thrilled to finally announce the launch of the Gallery Bar. Over the past year, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to refurbish the space and cannot wait to welcome everyone inside. Though we love our courtyard, Scottish weather is unpredictable at best and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to a tipple inside our beloved (and heated!) Summerhall.

For both the Gallery Bar and the Royal Dick Courtyard Bar, bookings are available via the Summerhall website. Indoor seating at the Royal Dick remains closed but Summerhall are looking to make an announcement soon.
